Romans 15

1Please Others, Not Yourselves

Now we who are strong ought to be patient with the weaknesses of those who are not strong and must stop pleasing ourselves.Rom 14:1; Gal 6:1
2Each of us must please our neighbor for the good purpose of building him up.Rom 14:19; 1Cor 9:19, 22; 13:5; Phil 2:4-5 3For even Christ did not please himself. Instead, as it is written, “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”
Ps 69:9
Ps 69:9; Matt 26:39; John 5:30; 6:38
4For everything that was written long ago was written for our instruction, so that we might have hope through the endurance and encouragement that the Scriptures give us.

5Now may God, the source of endurance and encouragement, allow you to live in harmony with each other as you follow Christ Jesus,

6so that with one mind and one voice you might glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.Acts 4:24, 32

7Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ accepted you,

for the glory of God.Rom 5:2
8For I tell you that Christ became a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God's truth in order to confirm the promises given to our forefathers,Matt 15:24; John 1:11; Acts 3:25-26; 13:46; Rom 3:3; 2Cor 1:20 9so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,Ps 18:49; John 10:16; Rom 9:23

“That is why I will praise
Or confess
you among the Gentiles;

I will sing praises to your name.”
Ps 18:49

11And again,Ps 117:1

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!

Let all the nations
Lit. all peoples
praise him.”

12And again, Isaiah says,Isa 11:1, 10; Rev 5:5; 22:16

“There will be a Root
I.e. Descendant
from Jesse.

He will rise up to rule the Gentiles,

and the Gentiles will hope in him.”

13Now may God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace as you believe, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.Rom 12:12; 14:17

14Paul's Desire to Take the Gospel to the Whole WorldI myself am convinced,
Lit. convinced about you
my brothers, that you yourselves are filled with goodness and full of all the knowledge you need to be able to instruct each other.1Cor 8:1, 7, 10; 2Pet 1:12; 1John 2:21
15However, on some points I have written to you rather boldly, both as a reminder to you and because of the grace given me by GodRom 1:5; 12:3; Gal 1:15; Eph 3:7-8 16to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable because it has been sanctified by the Holy Spirit.Isa 66:20; Rom 11:13; Gal 2:7-9; Phil 2:17; 1Tim 2:7; 2Tim 1:11

17Therefore, in Christ Jesus I have the right to boast about my work for God.Heb 5:1 18For I am bold enough to tell you only about what Christ has accomplished through me in the bringing of Gentiles to obedience. By my words and actions,Acts 21:19; Rom 1:5; 16:26; Gal 2:8 19by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of God's Spirit,

and those who have never heard will understand.”
